Basic Web Page File Creation Rules

File Naming Rules

For file that will remain on a PC or a Mac, you pretty much can name files anything you want. You can have spaces, capital letters, etc.

On the Internet, the file system is a little less accomodating. Here you will need to make sure that your file names are set up a certain way.
Here are some good guidelines.

Use all lowercase letters

File names should have no spaces

Text files should end in

.html or .htm

Image files should end in

.jpg or .gif

Other Good Rules to Follow

Keep all your image and html files in a single folder on your computer

Maintain this same relative relationship when you upload to the net
